VE Day celebrations & invisible wounds

As the weekend draws to a close we say goodbye to a Nation coming together over the last 4 days to mark VE Day 80 years on. From the pageantry in London to street parties throughout the UK we have celebrated the end of the war in Europe and, if fortunate, the return of loved ones.
For those returning from the war the transition was not so easy. Once the celebrations were over and Britain ready to be rebuilt there was, for many, still wars to be fought but this time in their own minds. Battles remained with them, lost friends were grieved and horrors relived.
As is always the case with wars and conflict, those coming home are often still fighting inside.

The article also covers how treating these invisible conditions has progressed through the decades and showcases their own tireless work towards healing today’s veterans.
