Transitioning to civilian life

edwardmackenzie2

Headquarter Support Command and Career Transition Partnership have produced an excellent article on the transition from military life to civilian life.

As veterans we know that it can be a real hardship adjusting to a new normal.  Those that have served for many years have become accustomed to the family and brother hood of the military, knowing there is someone to have your back and who also has the same mind set and work ethic as you.  Civilian life is very different and working within it can seem a bit strange as that ethos is not quite the same.

This article has given a very good framework for the transition and whilst not everyone will have family to fall back on there may be others transitioning out at the same time that you can talk to, compare notes and receive (or give) support to.

For anyone needing support contact Forces Employment Charity on https://www.forcesemployment.org.uk/programmes/career-transition-partnership/

Thank you to Sarah Miller for bringing this article to our attention
