A toast to Michael Mackenzie

Today marks the birthday of Michael Mackenzie, father and co-founder of Elysium Memorial Foundation.
My father was passionate about his charity work and was a trustee, fundraiser and ambassador for charities such as Spinal Injuries Together, Motorsport Endeavour, Dive-able and Around the World in Eighty Ways as well as being involved in Horatio’s Garden at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. His constant commitment to these and many other charities was echoed in the support he gave me while setting up EMF and getting this project underway.
My recent Veterans Awards nomination for Inspiration of the Year is indeed an honour but also a reflection of the inspiration that my father has been for me throughout my life and especially through the challenges of raising the funds for our memorial solely dedicated to veterans who have lost their lives to suicide.
So, I ask you to raise a glass with me and share a toast to Michael Mackenzie on what would be his 76th birthday.
So far away but always close to our hearts
Never more than a whisper away
Loved and missed every day
That he may abide in our hearts
Forever.

Rightly said Ed, and we all miss him close to this the 3rd anniversary of his death too.
Go peacefully Mike and I’m missing our adventures together. Sandy
We shall certainly raise a glass for your, Chris’s and Fred’s father. He was certainly a very enterprising, brave, generous, and charismatic person. The times we met him we always enjoyed his company. David & Franziska.
