Tony Leete was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire and began his military service in 1970. He served for 25 years, concluding his career in 1995, during which time he undertook a range of UK and overseas postings and developed a specialism in policing and security. His service included operational duties, active service overseas, and attachments with allied forces, reflecting a career shaped by professionalism, responsibility, and commitment.

After leaving the Armed Forces, Tony continued to serve his local community as a businessman in the hospitality sector. He remained active in this field until his retirement in 2015, earning respect for his steady leadership and community-focused approach.

Tony has long been involved in veterans’ support and remembrance activities. He has provided sustained assistance to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal as an organisational aide and is a co-founder and active supporter of the Richmond (North Yorkshire) Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club, which offers a welcoming and supportive environment for those who have served.

For the past 12 years, Tony has lived in the Catterick area and currently resides locally with his wife. He is deeply rooted in the community and maintains a strong connection to its military heritage.

Tony is delighted to join Elysium Memorial as a trustee and is honoured to support its mission at the National Memorial Arboretum. He looks forward to a long and happy association with the charity as it develops, and to helping ensure that remembrance, service, and sacrifice are preserved with dignity for future generations.
